Fan Wiring is very whacky...

I had a problem with some kind of short blowing my guage fuse a while back. Turns out it was the electric fan. Got the fan motor replaced and the fan rewired. The guy who did it isnt the best mechanic in the world(to keep it nice). Anyway when he wired it back up he only wired it to come on when you turn on the AC! Grr I was mad but I didnt feel like dealing with his mess anymore so I just went to wally world, spent $5 and wired up a switch in the cab. This has been nice and all but I think it isn't the best for my car because the fan connector plug is kind of melted . It still turns on and runs, but I would like to wire it up RIGHT. Can someone give me instructions on how it is SUPPOSED to be wired? THANKS!!!!
