what kind of ignition system should i get?

ok... i just put a 355 vortec motor in my car and i estimate somewhere around 400+ hp... but i cant get it timed for the life of me. i think it might be the 30 year old distributor. so i ran it at the track last night and all i herd was spark knock the whole way down... but i still managed a 13.5. so what do u guys use on your cars? i kinda want to go the MSD route with the box that has the rev limiter. but im open to all suggestions.
thanks

Car: 1992 Camaro RS - not real slow anymore...
Engine: SPDC 360 MAF EFI /w a Holley Stealth Ram
Transmission: T5 untill it blows up from to much torque
Axle/Gears: Ford 9" /w auburn pro & 3.89's
Sounds like your spark is to advanced. Retard your timing a little bit.

-I did go the msd route you're talking about. But if I were to do it all over again, I wouldn't waste the time or money on the msd stuff. Especially the msd wires.

Try the simple things first. Cap/rotor/wires/plugs
