What is involved with changing the pickup assembly?

My repair manual has bad pictures and the instructions that came with the part say something about replacing a bobbin?

ive never pulled the dizzy before, so im a little nervous about doing it without clear instructions.

pretty sure its called a pickup assembly, maybe pickup coil?

You Canadians are something else. When you pull the dizzy, the bobbin will be sitting by the doll, next to the pollywahack. Pop the two doyogs out and you are home free.

Pull the cover to the distributor (it should be two screws IIRC) and you'll see the cap and rotor there. A few more screws and they should come out. It's really pretty straight forward. Replace both the cap and rotor since they are fairly cheap.

What is a bobbin? Isn't that part of a sewing machine. You have to pull the distributor to replace the pickup coil. The pin has to be driven out of the drive gear and the inner shaft has to be slid out. The pickup coil is held in with a metal clip.

My friend and I broke TWO dizzys the other day trying to replace a pickup coil.
Stupid shaft wouldnt come out.. then things broke lol

I swear the instructions say bobbin. Maybe it's their description of the metal clip?
