Where's my short?

i cant find or know where to look for a short in my 25th anniversary 1992 RS 305. the radio cuts in and out, only the sounds but the lights stay on when i hit a bump or slam the passenger door. i just put in a new pioneer deh 5800 so i know it's not the radio. if you know where to look please tell me.i also know that it's not the speaker wiring and i installed it myself.
thanks

It's not a short you are looking for. If it was a short, you'd either blow a fuse or you'd have smoke. It sounds like you are looking for an intermittent connection, which is an "open" when you have no power. Good hunting.

you wont belive this but. if the light stays on and the sound gose out the bad conection is proboble in the sigarette lighter. I had this problem in an 86
if you turn the radio on and pull the fuse from the lighter the sound will quit but the radio lights and tape deck still work.

Definitely check the lighter for pennies. I took my 84 into the shop years back because when you hit the horn, you blew the fuse. They charged me to take the penny out of the lighter...
