TPS

Hello all I just replaced my TPS and cant adjust it.It says to put it at.54 or.56 volts. Ican only get adjusted to .33volts. Is the new tps bad or is .33 volts ok. Also it is tpi 350.

0.33V for a TPI is not adequate. There are a few things which might affect it, including a bad TPS out of the box. You should first verify that there is exactly 5.0VDC for a reference voltage across the sensor. That would be between the gray and black wires. Use the black wire as the negative voltage reference for your meter, not an engine ground. If he voltage is less than 5.0VDC, there may be a problem with the connections to the ECM or the ECM itself (more likely connections).

It the 5V reference is correct, check voltage between the blue wire and black wire for the setting. The voltage should change with changing throttle opening. If so, the sensor is at least working, and either the mounting position is incorrect or the lever arms on either the TPS or on the throttle shaft are worn, loose, or damaged. A worn throttle body can also affect this.

As you might infer, throttle position will affect the base TPS setting, so make sure the throttle minimum air position is set correctly before adjusting the TPS.
