well heres my story my car is a 91 trans am gta it got a 305 in it and it was switched over to carborated but i still got everything for tune port.....well almost everything when they switched it over they changed the steering colum....the orginal one i can not get ahold of so i was wondering if there was any way to trick the computer because the car will not start unless it has the right chiped key in the ignition..... that probley dont make any sence i really need help thanks

 

That makes perfect sense if you are switching back to TPI. The starter will not crank the engine, and the ECM will not allow fuel injector pulses without the correct key resistance in the lock cylinder. You can install a VATS lock cylinder in almost any steering column, and route the necessary wiring down to the VATS decoder module.

If you are keeping the carburetor and only need to enable starter cranking, that can be bypassed more easily than with any EFI system. Of course, the vehicle will be more vulnerable to theft.
