Another electric speedo question.

Hi,I'm after some info on wiring up a covans dash with autometer gauges. My car is a 85 Z28/Lg4/700R4.I've done a search and found lots of info and also a few possible answers.Anyway this concerns the two brown wires in terminal 8 in connector one[the clear one],where do these hook up to in the new harness?.I know that the brown wires go to the ecm & the cruise control but not sure of the other end.I'm using a autometer speedo sender{P/N 5291 three wire. The purple from the sender goes to the signal terminal on the speedo,so can i go from the out terminal on the speedo back to the browns,to retain the computer
and the cruise control.I would have thought that if this was the case there would be a wire provided in the new harness for the out terminal on the speedo.
Theres a cavity in the plug that i can use.In regards to the speedo sender,my speedo cable went straight to the tranny from the old cluster, so i wont use the cruise control pass through on it. Also the other question i have is regarding the yellow wire on the harness that comes with the covans dash, the one that is in the plug for the speedo,it has a circular terminal on it and is shown as a ground?.Seems a odd colour for a ground.Anyway sorry for the long post, hope it all makes sense, just that i want to get the dash in but i want to make sure everything is right first. Thanks for any help.
Regards
Alicat.

Another question

I think i might have my wiring sorted out.Does anyone know, if you are using autometer's speedo sender 5291,do you still have to use the vss off the original cluster?

Thanks.

I havent actually installed mine but from what i understand you shouldnt need a sender from auto meter if ur usin an original vss from your tranny, it should wire straight to the speedo. Check out the istallation manual of ur speedo and it shows you how to do it to a 2 wire vss. If you got the covans pre wired auto meter kit c if u can track down the wire to the back of the gauge and make sure it matches to your vss factory wire. Hope this helps...

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately my vss is on the back of the instrument cluster, the car is a 85 Z28.I've got the sender from autometer P/N 5291,it's a three wire sender.I'm trying to find out if i still need to have a vss,as well as the sender. Before, the speedo cable went straight to the tranny.

P.S
I am using the covans dash kit with ultralite gauges.

Reworded speedo question

Ok, I might have been asking the wrong question. In regards to the original question,do i need to use the vss buffer,in conjunction with the autometer speedo sender,or can i go from the sender to the speedo signal input, and then from the out terminal on the speedo to the ecm/cruise control.I've asked autometer this question, but still waiting on a reply. It would be great if you guys are able to help me out.

Thanks,Alicat
