I had this problem years ago. It turned out to be a short.

Just so you know, putting 20A fuse in 10A socket = more problems than just another burned-out fuse. That's a good way to burn your car to the ground.

That 10A fuse protects the wiring for that circuit. Putting in a 20A fuse allows more current to pass through the wire (probably from a short in this case), which is more than the wire for that circuit is capable of carrying while dissipating heat caused from (I^2)R losses , and therefore cannot dissipate the extra heat. The wire will get very hot, melt the insulation, catch things on fire....

Just a warning in case you did not know the potential consequences.

The fuses that are blowing aren't by chance the ones for the circuit that you plugged your stereo system or fog lights into is it?

For example, it would be bad to run either of those things from a 12V wire used for something like the radio, or another accessory wire or anything like that.

IIRC the cigar lighter is run from the gage fuse. I've seen where the lighter body shorts to the shell popping the fuse. Just put the cigar lighter in the console for a while and see if the fuse stops popping.

Not sure what the cause of mine was. I had an electrician fitting an alarm and CD player so he came back out and fixed the short also.
