Axle/Gears: huh?? guessing stock.
a remote lock and unlocksends a pulse signal, meaning it is only energized for 1 sec or so. that remote is designed to send a signal untill you hit the next button. the lights stay on right? that is because the sircut is still energized.

I just put in a keyless entry into my 89 camaro today. it cost 30 bucks at pep-boys here and is made by bulldog. 5 wires hookup. pulled my door panes on the drivers side found the lock and unlock wires (Light blue was lock, black was unlock) ran the wires through the grommet to the under side of the dash, hooked two wires to ground and one wire to 12V constannt. that was it.

Hope this helps.

weird my power lock wire color was tan and white (right to the motor). i never did hook them up to the lights. However I looked at a multi remote kit today and it was nearly identical to what I have now. I will give it a shot.

I see no reason why not.
