Need some help with Hatch Pull Down unit
Worked on my wifes 88 IROC today and got the hatch/3-piece spoiler all aligned but ended up with another problem. The courtesy light will not go out. To make a long story short, I adjusted the hatch pull down unit close to 30 times trying to get it to click the reversing switch at the end of it's travel. I followed the adjustment article and even turned out the gear nut to no avail. The motors working fine but it won't pull the hatch down enough to click the reversing switch and when I move the unit up (like stated in the article) the hatch doesn't close all the way. The courtesy light is always on.
Am I missing something? Any other ideas?

Finally got it to start working correctly, just took several more tries. The problem with the courtesy light still exists though. Can someone point me in the right direction as to why the light will not go out? Hatch is closing good now with an audible click at the end of travel and when opened it returns to the up position but, the light only goes out when I disconnect it.

Any ideas? Everything else is working properly now except the light will not turn off. Thanks

On 90-91 the hatch light is powered through the striker-sensing switch of the pull-down motor. Prior years have a manual switch to turn it on and off. Check that someone didn't re-wire it. The white wire should plug into a black with orange-stripe wire to power the hatch light.
