I started my GTA this afternoon and as I pulled away from my house I went to go turn on the stereo. When I looked down and as I was pushing the power button, I noticed the display was off when it didn't turn on. I then pulled over, turned off the car, restarted it, and as I pulled away this time the stereo worked just as it did before, even remembering where in the CD track I was listening before, but the "security" idiot light on the dash came on. I drove like that until I got to the gas station and when I left after filling up, everything was back to normal, stereo working and no security light anymore.

WTF? Seriously? I have NEVER had any inclination of a bug in my electrical in the 100,000 miles and 6 1/2 years I've own it. It now has 170,000 and nothing anywhere has every been hacked. It even has the factory CD player, it's never even has an after-market deck in it without the proper adapter.

I've never seen the "security" idiot light go on before, aside from when it starts, and heck I don't even know what it means when it comes on, my manual is in storage, lol.

Any ideas what could have caused it? I'm hoping it's not a sign of bigger things to come. Any clues or am I just trippin' ?

EDIT: After doing a search, it appears I may need to clean my key and the inside of the ignition switch where the key goes. I'm still curious as to why the stereo was screwing up though.

On a side note, last night I went to drive me ex's '04 Grand Am GT for the very first time and when I started it her radio and stuff was dead too along with the gauges not working. The car started fine and the lights worked. After turning it off and starting it again everything was just fine.

Am I emitting some kind of EMP or what? Lol...I mean what are the chances, for real, lol.
