I want to wire an electric fan please help!!
I am using a single fan set up from an 86 trans am and the relay and harness pictured
I would like the fan to run when the ignition is on so I dont have to put any sensors in the block
I know that this is not the type of relay and harness that was used in 86 but this is what I have in the gaarage.
the fan has a two wire plug: simple- ground and power
what I need to know is on the relay where do I send the battery power, where do I put the ignition lead so on and so forth.
I appreciate any help that can be offered

the reason I want to use this is because it is new and came with the the painless harness that I bought for my bird.
I may have the old style somewhere
also are the wires a bit small for the amount of juice for the fan. they look to be 16 gauge and I know the power wires on my bird are way bigger
by the way I hope you guys dont get mad but I am working on a 69 C-10
So far I have put the bucket seats, stearing column and radiator and fan from an 86 Trans Am I parted out.

I have no idea what is pictured there.....
BUT I can help you. If you go to summit's website a lot of parts let you see the instructions for them. Look up some painless wireing fan relay instrutions.
I have a dual fan setup and have one fan wired to the ignition with a relay and the other to a themo switch in the intake. My motor makes a TON of heat. It makes a solid 500 hp and I drove it for an hour to the body shop where it is now and it stayed between 160 and 180 the whole way there. So I know it was all working.
Hopw this helps.

The picture is a little blury, but I think what you have there is just a weatherpack connector and not a solinoid.
If you pick up a solinoid from your local auto parts store the terminals will be numbered.
#30 10ga wire to battery or an always hot junction block
#87 10ga wire to fan positive lead
#86 18ga wire to ground
#85 18ga wire from dash that is hot when ignition on
#87a ignore it if it has one
86 and 85 can be reversed, it doesn't matter. Ground the other wire from the fan. If you have the fan wires backwards it'll just blow the wrong way.
