Fuel Gauge working poorly
I have a problem with my fuel gauge. It works, but it only works when the float reaches the very end of its travel, being when I have an empty tank. I took the sending unit out of the tank and just played with the float with my hand and about the first ½ inch of travel the gauge goes from empty to way past full, and the rest of the travel is useless. Does anyone know how I can fix it so that it works properly? Is there a way to adjust the variable resistor? I can't find sending units for sale at the parts stores and the float seems to be welded as part of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, the gas gauge is one of the common problems (i.e. disasters) in our cars. Frankly, I'm not sure that there is a definitive "fix." You might consider a search for more info though: The topic has been covered many times.

I found some sheared wires coming from the gas tank that are touching eachother/chassis so as soon as I pull those away and tape them up it should work. busy with a stupid camshaft replacement at the moment though
