Intermittent spark?

If you take the cover off the coil,(in cap type) and take the leads off the dist cap and then crank the motor should there be a spark from the coil to each post
as it turns over?.I've done this and i dont get spark at the number 8 post.I'ts a msd coil and,it does'nt seem to do this with the old coil. Thanks.

Alicat.

If # 8 stands out with a missing spark then I'd suspect the cap has a crack or a carbon track. Remove it and inspect/ exchange. Cleaning (and siliconing) a track (or the whole cap) might also be possible.
