Conversion: Wiring up power door locks
Conversion: Wiring up power door locks
Hi,
I recently used donor doors and a factory wiring harness from an '89 Firebird to convert my stripper '88 Camaro SC to power windows, locks, and mirrors.
All of the wiring and power components are installed as factory, but unfortunately, my car's factory harness did not have a plug for the power accessories harness (I've heard that it's a hit or miss whether non-power optioned cars still received the plug or not).
I have the power windows working, was able to wire that up using the Tech Article on converting to power windows. I couldn't however, find anything on how to wire the power door lock actuators. Aside from the pink power window feed wire, the power accessory harness from the Firebird also has an orange wire and an orange/black tracer wire.
I notice that both of these are present in the back of my fuse block, but I was afraid to start color-matching for fear of connecting something that shouldn't be connected.
Can you guys help? I did a search and came up with nothing. I'd like for the power mirrors to work, but I'm really only in need of the power door locks. All help is appreciated--surely somebody else's done this swap!
Thanks!
