Fuel guage

The fuel guage on our 91 firebird (3.1 V6 ) seems to drop suddenly, also does anyone know how much fuel is left when needle is on the warning mark before empty.

Car: 84 Camaro

Engine: 5.0

i have heard that there is about a gallon after the warning light comes on. this was true in my 93 buick, but i would imagine it changes from car to car
