help

I just put a new steering column in my 89 rs. the car had a bad column before so I got a new one. the security light would come on with the old column and now with the new one I get no light and no start at all. Had five keys made and they do not work. help thanks

Did you plug in the VATS? Are the keys you made the correct resistance?

It's a 2-wire plug with at the bottom of the column. You say you made 5 keys, did they have the resistor pellet? I only ask because each blank cost about $30. If you did plug in the VATS you will still need the correct VATS type key. Do a search there are plenty of info and some pictures on this subject. Bottom line if the ECM doesn’t get the correct signal that the correct Key has been used the starter will be disabled and the injectors won't fire.

I agree, check the wires for the VATS. If it's original I believe the wires are yellow, they will be separate from the wires going to the Ignition Switch.
