opening rear hatch

can anyone tell me how to open a motorized hatch in a 91 z28 from the center console. All wiring and switch is in the car. No motor in car so I need to power it from a battery direct somehow to open it. I bought a roller and it doesn't have a key. Don't want to pull hatch lock cylinder from the outside and I can't access from the inside because the panel is in the way and I can't get it out. Any ideas? I just want to get the latch to pop, the motor doesn't have to rise.

could you just put a battery in the car temporarily and hit the button in the dash?
