AirCon Delete on a 89GTA
AirCon Delete on a 89GTA
Hey all, I'm just fitting my air-con delete box and had a question about the wiring.
I found this thread https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...=Aircon+Delete
Which says that you dont need the relay and that the chap just cut the loom back.
i'm happy with reconnecting the coloured wires but can i just chop back and tape up the other wires? These are;
Small Green
Small Blue
Medium Red
Medium and Small Black
The Green and blue ones are the ones that goto the sensor on the air con resivoir. and I'm assuming the red is a live and the blacks are a ground, to wich i connect the other side of the motor.
Is this correct?
Cheers

since the last post i've discovered that the green and blue wires for the air con sensor go back to a multiplug thing with the big black one. as does the red one goto its own connector. can these just be unplugged? instead of snipping and tapeing them up further up the loom towards the fan.

actually, its a different green wire, its much darker and it goes back in towards the cars loom.

I've had a good look through the wiring diagrams and that still doesnt let me know what can be cut out. The original post I looked at said that the relay could be cut out. But I cant work out wither or not this is true. I cant really see what the relay is for tbh. I belive there should also be another aircon relay that should be able to be removed too.
Does noone have direct yes/no advice? I'll need to try cutting random wires if not.

IMO if in doubt, leave it and just tape the wire out of the way. if you're running a non computer controlled engine and have no plans to ever return it to a computer controlled, just chop em out of there. I had a V6 so I chopped alot of wires out when I put the carb v8 in, left only wires for ignition, lights, wipers, and heater blower under the hood

Its a TPI setup.
I just cant see what the relay does, as the engine is out at the moment none of the electrics are on so I'll mess about with it and update the thread within the week.
