Fuel Pump

I was wondering if anyone can help me here? I want to make sure, before i buy a fuel pump, that that is really the problem. I am looking for an electrical chart that will tell me every step, every relay and fuse that the fuel pump takes from the key to the fuel pump back to the motor. We just replaced the valvestem seals on this car and i want to check to see if a wire broke. As we all know that there is a lot of wires around the valve covers so i just want to check that first. I know that the fuel pump is not active because when i turn the key you usually hear it by the tank, but now you can not and there is also no fuel getting to the motor like there was a week ago when i drove the car in the garage. thanks for any help in fixing my problem.

Re: Fuel Pump

Engine specifications would help. I guess you have an '86 Iroc but what engine model? Carb/TBI/TPI? It always helps to give enough info.

If you look at our local ATGO wiring diagram page, you'll find a lot of diagrams for a lot of years and engine models. Pick yours and follow the fuel pump wiring.

It could be just a relay, a ground or a fuse, who knows?
If you have a test light or a voltmeter, it's just a matter of minutes to find it.

If you still have trouble, let us know, we'll help ya out.

Re: Fuel Pump

Big Lou is spot on, the more info we have the better we can help. My money is on you either knocked something loose, or if you didn't disconnect the neg bat cable while doing the valve seals, you shorted something. So, recheck all wiring connections (especially grounds) and check all your fuses.
Let us know more,
