help!!
ok new motor is in and most of the un needed wireing harness is gone as in only things left are for the dizzy lights horn elc. fan and starter/bat. ok well i am proceeding to hook up my alternator and i attach the ground that goes to the mounting bracket and the wire that attaches to the back side of the alternator but the plug that goes into the top i can not find....so what is it for? i mean ive put in the bat and when to jump it and after the gauge says volts are good horn works/lights but its really bothering me becasue i cannot rememeber what this plug is for and i know i had a problem before where the wires had come out of the plug and i had to fix it but im afraid i may have removed it because ive looked and not found it. if so would there be a way to run a new one if absolutely needed which im assuming i need to? any help would be greatly apreciated

Re: help!!
Usually the "plug" on the alternator has two wires, the thicker (red) one is a positive feed for the fuse box or relays. The other wire (white or tan/wht) is usually an "excitor" wire, meaning the wire "turns on" the alternator. You DO need the plug, any parts store has replacement plugs that you can buy.
