Wiring up megashifter switches

The installation is pretty easy, but I have a question about the neutral and backup light switches.

Here's the instruction:
STEP 5. Assemble the neutral safety and the reverse light switches to the bracket using two #4-40 x 1" screws and nuts, as shown in Figure 1. Beware, over tightening the switch attachment screws will crack the switch housings. Install the switch assembly on the shifter. To adjust the switches, loosen the screws and slide the switches in or out as required, then retighten the screws.

Now, it doesn't really say how tight this should be. Currently, I have them snug, but not so tight that they can't freely "click". How tight should they be? How do they actually work?

With the screws loose you should be able to slide the switches up and down. This is so you can adjust them. If they are up too far they will not be activated at the proper time when you are moving the shifter. Loosen the screws and adjust them down just to the point they are getting activated at the proper time. For instance you want the backup light switch to be activated when you shift into reverse. When they are adjusted properly then just tighten the screws enough so the switches can`t move.
