Steel Braided Sleeving as Heat Protection?

I have some of that steel braided sleeving you put around your hoses to make them appear like real bradied hoses which I defenitly won't use.

Would this be good to put over wiring for heat protection? I'm talking mainly about my starter wiring that is dangerously close to my headers.

I wouldnt use it because steel is a great conductor not resistor, so it would take the heat in and just melt the wires probably.

I was definitely thinking that but its got to be better than plastic wire loom...or should I use both?

If you want to protect your wires from heat, try some insulating tape or header wrap or something similar.

Re: Steel Braided Sleeving as Heat Protection?

Well I have some sleeving I bought from McMaster Carr (that site is the sheeeeet BTW...one of my favorites to browse around) thats designed for extremely high heat and I ended up using that since its also what I have my starter cable wrapped with.

I just wanted to see if this would be a decent idea, I want to use up this braided sleeivng I have. I guess I'll stick with this as a wire loom substitute to protect against wires rubbing on other things.
