trying to wire up coolant fan
i am trying to hook up the fan.but the fan wires on this car are blue and one black.the wires( cut off) coming from harness red/red- black ,it appears that the black wire coming from fan is the hot. because they got the blue one grounded. but when i touch the blk. one to a pos. i get serious arcing! i do have another fan but its got 3 wires, 1 thick blk,1 thick blk/red,and 1 small blk. one. it came off a 90 buick. well, any suggestions fellows?

Re: trying to wire up coolant fan
The fan off the Buick: the thick black wire sounds like a ground and the thick black/red wire should be positive.
Hope this helps.

Re: trying to wire up coolant fan
upon closer looking one of the thick ones is red/black, one is purple/ black and the small one is black. so im guessing one is high ,one is low?
