V6 Camaro tach issues?
I have had two V6 3rd gens and both(a 90 and a 91) have had the factory tachs go dead and never move from full scale. Is this a common thing and is there a fix?

Re: V6 Camaro tach issues?
Both of my V6 cars have had well over 200k on them and the tachs were fine...
I can't help other than to say it doesn't seem like a normal problem to me. Do you hook up lots of stereo equipment or aftermarket electrical stuff?

Well on a daily basis i can be doing anything under the sun with these cars but this is a freebee daily driver for me and I was just wondering if anyone came up with this problem also.

Re: V6 Camaro tach issues?
Sounds like a simple loss of signal. Simple for the tach, maybe not so simple for you to find in the harness...
There are two white wires that come off of your ignition coil. One goes to the module, the other goes to your gauge cluster for the tach. You may need to tighten the connection of that wire to the coil. If that's not it then you have a break in that circuit somewhere between the tach and the coil. Maybe a harness connector or the gauge cluster connection, who knows? You may be able to run a long jumper wire from the coil to the tach connection at the cluster to see if it works at all.
I have never had a tach in one of my 3rd gens die. They sometimes have not been too accurate, but never dead.
Hope this helps.
