Axle/Gears: no idea
fuel tank ground???
i have this aftermarket digital dash for my 1986 trans am
where can i find a fuel tank ground for the fuel gauge?
i understand its different from a chassis or engine ground
where can i find a connection to it besides lifting up my carpet?

Here are the gauges diagrams for an 84 T/A.
I can't see why you couldn't use any chassis ground, as long as it's not flowing a high current. Hooking up to window elevator, door lock,/ or fan grounds might make the gauge jump a little when using these accessories, esp. with the tank near empty.
The sender is usually grounded back there, and the gauges are just grounded to a low-current ground point somewhere in the dash.

not a problem thanks for the tips. i didnt know there was a high and low current ground. i'll see if i can hard wire the ground through the dash. i just dont like the gauges being connected by prongs to flat copper terminals. just doesnt seem a good enough connection to me and i want my gauges very reliable.

I haven't actually been inside a T/A dash so I'm just assuming the logic of the factory here. To be certain you can find a separate place for a screw and a ring terminal, but I wouldn't worry about a flat terminal being unreliable under those conditions, just avoid any ground points that obviously carries heavy currents.

i took care of everything,
i hard wired some wires including the 12v and grounds and temp/fuel/oil gauge sender wires while kept using the flat terminals for engine light etc...
works just fine but i need to replace my oil sender since its reading 30psi with just ignition on. i already checked the gauge itself. its gotta be the 20yr old oil sender.
