Hard wired fuel injection wire to fuse; Problem????
My '89 GTA for some reason, has the #8 fuell injector wire (red) hard wired to one of the fuel injector fuses; its wrapped around on one prong and plugged into the fuse block! Anyone know why this was done? I was told at an auto electric shop that the ecm might no be powering it properly! What do u guys think? Its obviously not supposed to be like that so before I go changing the ecm, I'd like to know some other possibilities! Thanks in advance! L8R!

The fuel injectors should have a green wire and a pink wire on the even bank and a blue wire and a pink wire on the odd bank. The pink wire which i think you have mistaken for red is the ignition power to the injectors. Most probably what has happend is some where along the line the power to the injectors was shorted out and they fixed it by sticking it to the injector fuse. I would start by checking the back of the fuse panel and making sure that there are no burned wires and then tracing it back to the injectors. I'm not sure what auto electric shop you talked to but the ecm does not power the injectors it provides a ground signal, to fire them. I really doubt there is anything wrong with your ecm.

Yeah I meant the 'pink' wire. Ok cool so my ecm is good; thank god... those things aren't cheap
! The wire runs from the injector (#8) through a hole in the firewall to the left of the brake master cylinder if your looking at it from the engine bay! So the pink wire supposed to be connected behind the fuse block? Ill post some pics of where the wires runs through tomorrow that way u can get a better idea of how its set up! Ill get to looking for any burnt wires tomorrow too! I took it to a shop near my house...the guy looked like he knew what he was talking about, guess he was wrong! Thanks for the info man!
