I just got a GTA and the rpm gauge is not working. When I turn the key from off to on, but not running, I see all the little rpm lines light up all the way to redline. As I am starting the car I get a reading off about 800-1000, but the second the car starts running I get no reading at all.

What could be wrong? I would hate to spend a money on a dash if that't not the problem.

 

did you check the wires that go to the distributor. or

 

The problem was the tach electronics in the cluster and the wiring harness that is attached to the back of the cluster. Replaced both of those and it works fine now.

 

I'm having kind of the same problems. Where did find those parts to replace?
