wiring headaches please help!!!

Basic info
86 trans am
327 swap

I've looked over the site and I'm still confused about my starters wiring. Is this correct the big wire coming down from the postive battery goes on the main stud, as well as the three red ones. This gives me power to my lights turn signals etc... so were does the pink goI tried on the s terminal and fried two starters. The wires are all chopped up from the previous owner. Does purple go to s terminal? The guy I bought it from was starting it with just the bat wire and the reds all on the main stud and nothing else.

Yes, the 3 red wires and the positive bat cable go onto the large stud and the purple wire goes onto the "s" terminal on the starter.

If it keeps burning up starters when you hook it up, then there is definately a problem with the hacked up wires.

As for the PO starting it up with just the wires on the main stud, I don't know how he was doing that...

Re: wiring headaches please help!!!

It should be right down by the starter with the other 3 red ones.
You sure the pink wire isn't just a faded purple wire?

if you can get ahold of the all data print out they are very helpfull, gives the colors and full pin outs for any cars electrical system, all years, different setups, I used it to switch my 83 cross fire to a 91 TBI. it worked perfect although in the end i switch to a carb keeping my electronic spark control.

I don't really like the Haynes manuals. Seems like they dont have all the information that you need.

Here is a great link for 86 wiring...http://92b4crs.tripod.com/86wiring/86wiringindex.html
it is from a link that is on TGO homepage under technical artcles.

Check it out.
