need help! power doors not working
nothing happens when i press the lock button from either door, but both buttons will unlock drivers door. the passenger door doesnt do anything.
i can hear a clicking noise coming from underneath my steering wheel when i press the unlock button.the noise maybe coming from the little relay behind my kick plate.
not sure if that relay has anything to do with the power doors, any input will be appreciated.

Remove the door lock switches from each door bezel. Clean the contacts on the switch AND on the plug very well. Access the power lock soleniod on the passenger door, Clean the contacts on the switch AND on the plug very well.
The power door lock relay is mounted behing the drivers side kick panel. That could be your problem, but it's more likely that simple corrosion is causing poor contact so that the signal can't be sent to the relay and passed to the lock soleniods. I've had the same issue on counless Camaro's I've owned over the years and about 85% of the time - cleaning all the contact points allows the system to function again !

Re: need help! power doors not working
thanks, i just reconnected the wires saturday. i didnt think about looking for corrosion. i dont recall anything looking rusty or grungy,i'll try cleaning the connections this evening.
glad to know that my relay is at my feet. i have that kick plate off so it will be easy enough to change.

Re: need help! power doors not working
Before you go replacing relays and other parts, it might help to find out what exactly is wrong.
You can follow this diagram to see how it's all connected: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/mkport...door_locks.jpg
You can perform a simple test of the door locks themselves:
- remove the relay from the socket
- find two paper clips
- grab the relay socket with one hand
- stick one paper clip into the THICK black wire and the other end into the THICK tan wire
- stick the other paperclip in the THICK grey wire and ONLY TOUCH the other end to the THICK orange/black wire
That should make the doors lock. If they don't, the problem is most likely in the motors (but can be also in the wiring).
If the doors lock, the doorlock motors are good.
Next test (for the relay):
- reconnect the relay to the socket
- remove the door lock switches from both doors
- hold the connector in hand
- stick a paperclip in the light blue wire and touch it to the orange wire
That should lock the doors. If not, the relay (although clicking, as you said before), has probably a bad contact inside. Replace relay and retest.
Hope this helps.
