Altenator harness????
What is the purpose of the 2 wire harness that plugs into the top of the alt?
I was replacing the water pump and noticed mine was not hooked up and the previous owner zip-tied it outta the way?
The gauges work fine and cars runs ok with no SES light?

I think its for controlling the ammount of charge, if you not using it you may charge bad on some places, maybe it dimps down to only 11.7V of charging (the meter will show 12 inside because you have the battery and so..
check the charge on the batteru with VOM when idling and see what voltage you get..
Think its connected to the ECM thru thoose wires. How do the car runs ? it runs like it should ?

Re: Altenator harness????
The brown wire supplies voltage to the field excitation coil and the red wire provides reference power for the voltage regulator. Without these two, the stock alternator won't charge and the car won't run more than a few hours/days.
Some aftermarket alternators are single-wire units but the picture shows a stock alt and that one cannot live without the top wires connected.

I have not had a single problem with the car. I drove this thing from Dallas, TX to Chicago w/o a problem when I bought it, and have been driving it around quite a bit w/o any problems either. I am going to hook it back up and see what happens, worse case scenerio is I need to buy a new alt I guess?
