Opinions on re-wiring 4th Gen electric seats for my '86 Z28....
Hey guys, I just installed a set of tan leather seats from a 4th Gen F-Body into my '86 Z28 project. All the wiring is already installed, the crossover wiring harness from the drivers seat to the passenger seat, along with the connectors that were used from the 4th Gen F-Body. I included a picture of the harness below. I borrowed the connector w/harness that plugs into the drivers seat, leading to the fuse panel....
Now, the only thing not wired into anything is the orange feed wire leading to the panel. The harness is connected to the seats, and is grounded to the floorboard. Looking for a few opinions on where to wire the feed wire up. Should I find a key-on spot on the fuse panel itself (and where), or wire it directly to the battery, along with a relay. Pro's and con's for either way would be greatly appreciated....
Thanks guys!

Street Lethal - I did the same install on my 85Z. I believe you'll find an orange wire in the harness under the console that is always hot. This is a good source for juice so you can move the seats while the engine is off.

^ Sal, is the orange wire connected to anything important though, as I really don't want to overload it, and would it be wise to include an inline fuse as well....?

My seats have power all the time
I ran a wire from the junction block near the battery inside thru an inline 25A fuse I salvaged from a V6
Similar to this:

----------
The only hot-all-times wire under the console I know of is the cigarette lighter pwr
It is much to small to run the seats without risking an overload

Pocket, so I would need to run the orange wire in the lower left hand corner of the pic (see below), straight to the battery, with a 25A inline fuse? Is this the best way? Luckily I have an inline fuse from the Viper alarm system that I just removed from the car (same gauge size), I'll just reuse it then if so....

Rob,
I'm pretty sure it's the hot wire for the hatch release. I've not had any problem though I would agree with Pocket that you might want to add a separate fuse, just in case.
