Quick question about window switch amperage...

Yes, I have searched with no success... I was at Best Buy today shopping around and heard what I thought was the giant airconditioner come on... It had been a nice partly cloudy day so I parked out front and had my windows down... as I'm getting ready to leave (10mins later) I realized that the overhead sound wasn't the air conditioning unit, but rather a heavy down pour of rain. My first thought was "sh*t!" and quickly ran to my soaked-interior Trans Am... I don't have anything too electrically sensitive in my car (I plan to install a Flux Capacitor next month so I can go back to 1985), but wet seats and turn signal levers aren't fun... I got fed up because for a while now I've been hesitating about an idea I've had, that if enacted, would have easily avoided this situation. I've been wanting to hook up my windows to keyless remote modules so I can lower and raise them with a remote. I've successfully hooked up my keyless entry and remote start. So I bought this kit off ebay and plan to use each module as window up/down for passenger and driver respectively. The units themselves only handle about 25amps. I just need to know about what is the amperage for the window switches, is it more than 25 amps? I think, but I'm not sure, its 35 amps for both of them? Is this correct? Thank You for your help... and I'll update my progress when successful

Re: Quick question about window switch amperage...

im not sure if u knew it existed but dei (the makers of viper, python and the such) have a modual that can be integrated to any alarm, keyless entry, or remote start with an aux output, part number dei 530t, that is designed to control windows. i have one in my camaro and its always a hit. when i hit arm on my remstart/alarm the windows go up(i can also arm with out rolling em up) and when i hit the aux channel they go down a hair to vent and if i hold it they go down all the way. an added perk is that both my windows are one touch at the switch now. so if i wanna roll up my passenger window to cut down on windnoise, i just tap the button in the console and up they go. there are saftey switches built in too so it wont cut my arm off if i reach in after starting the sequence. there is also a 529t that controls one window or a sunroof. downside is i cant individually control the windows from my remote, but how often do u need to roll down one window and not the other? but to answer ur exact question i dont think the windows are more that 30amp cause thats what size fuse im running with no issues. when in doubt with the power output of something throw a 40 amp relay on it.

Re: Quick question about window switch amperage...

thanks for the reply, thats was I was thinking aswell because I did read somewhere that someone used a 35amp fuse. I currently have a Directed Electronics module as my keyless entry remote start. Its a BOA 265B module. I don't think this unit has special provisioning for the window module. Which I know can still be wired to work. But the reason I didn't go that route is because I wanted the windows to be fully remote controlled... Because I don't have air conditioning and I don't mind leaving my windows rolled down in the Summer, also I should be able to remotely roll down the windows in the Summer as well (similar to the practicality of remote start in the winter). If this wireless setup proves to be too much of a hassle for my daily driver, I might try the window module...

Re: Quick question about window switch amperage...

as far as wiring the 530t, only two wires from it actualy hook up to the alarm. one that rolls em down one for up. i also share the utter lack of ac and always roll em down before i go to the car. it also makes it super nice for putting ttops in or out. but the module just has one 30amp fuse protecting the whole thing but what ive noticed with everyone of these modules ive installed is that they dont start both windows at once. so if u tried to put both fronts down at the same time it may draw to much power from the initial start.
