Ripping out LG4 engine bay wiring...

Im taking the computer our of my LG4. I have an aftermarket distirbutor and carb so its ok. I also want to rip out as much wiring as i can out of my engine bay. I took out my A/C and my cruise control. What wiring do i need for my engine. The fan switch (pass side block).... the water temp sensor(driver side block).... What else is there. I don't want to loose any dash gauges. Please can someone tell me what i can and can't rip out of there? I want to try and eliminate all the wires going across my firewall also. Please Help!

Re: Ripping out LG4 engine bay wiring...

does the car need emmisions?

The entire hunk of wires from the passengerside fenderwell can go, except for 5, there is a yellow and a purple that are for the speed sensor, and 3 for the converter lock up.

there is a small bundle just to the right of the blower housing that needs to stak for the heater blower to run. Everything else comes from the driverside, and most of it needs to stay. You can trace wires from the extra plugs that you have after removing all the other controls, and if you take the wireing harness apart you can re-route the remaining wire to clean them up, move the relays ect.

The only wires i have left is a large bundle running up and over the driverside fender to the fromt of the car for lights/fans, and its tucked up under the fender lip, so its out of the way, there are a couple wires going to the senders on the motor, wipers, and heater box

I moved all the relays that were floating around up to the front, right behind the headlight buckets, behind the battery and where the charcoal canister was. I had to lengthen a bunch of wires on the driverside to do this. If you tear into the harness you can really clean things up, some routing is ridiculous. the fan wiring runs from the driverside over the engine to the passengerside then to the fan, this can be re-routed so the wiring is only on the driverside.

You can even re-route the converter lock up wiring and speedo wiring so that it drops into the tunnel by the shifter, eliminating it from the engine compatment.

Im sure there is more but this is a good start

i just noticed its a camaro, you dont have speedo wires, you have a cable

its also manual so i don't have the lockup wire either. I took out my A/C and i want to bypass the heater core anyway so im never going to use my interior blower fan thing. I took out everything that had to do with emission also. Thanks for the help.
