short somewhere??

Hi everyone

Yesterday I finished swapping out the bad starter on my 89 Firebird Formula 350 and she fired right up!! Sound sweet too since we had the CAT out so it basically had headers lol

But anyway, after all of that, when I turned off the car, after about 10 minutes of not being in the car, no keys in it or anything, I noticed that the dome light and the light on the floor by the passenger's feet was still on and wouldn't go off. I checked all of the doors, and they were closed, and the hatch was closed, or at least I think it is (it's an electric one). I eventually had to unhook a battery cable so my brand new battery didn't die.

My question: Is there any place else I should look for something? Or should I check into the hatch or the doors more? I don't wanna have to unhook the battery every time I'm not driving!! Thanks1

Re: short somewhere??

I do not know if this is only in Camaros but try twisting the headlight **** counter clockwise because if you twist it clockwise the lights turn on. That is the interior light switch.

Re: short somewhere??

I will try that thing with the headlights.

I do not believe that I left any interior switches on. However, I am only 18 and kinda brain-dead at times lol, so I will definitely check for that too lol

Thanks guys!

Re: short somewhere??

Hi everyone

I tried the thing with the headlights, and it didn't do anything, and I didn't find any interior switches that were on, unless I'm missing something. Are there switches on the courtesy lights (the overhead dome light and the ones by each person's feet) themselves?

confused.....

Thanks!

Re: short somewhere??

Check the door jam pin switches on the body of the car. Be right in the middle of the hinges. Wires can come disconnected there and touch the body. You can usally see the wires from inside the car under the dash.

Re: short somewhere??

Hi everyone

I think the short somehow solved itself. I put in the battery and the lights didn't come on, so I opened the doors and the hatch and shut them, and the lights went off like normal.

My guess is that a switch was jammed or something like that. Either way, it works now!

thanks for all your input
