im ticked off

somebody broke in to my car last night and riped my ignition out. now it wont turn so i cant start the car how do i replace that and where do i find one

do u have the original key? if so take the key to napa/autozone so they can check it to find a replacement ignition that matches the key resistance.

The ignition switch itself doesn't care about the value of the VATS key.

There is a separate box in the dash, that is wired to the ignition switch, to check the resistor value.

Chances are, you can go get a new cylinder from a junkyard, wire itup & your car will be just fine.

You probably need to replace the rack and sector that links the ignition switch to the ignition cylinder. If you're not familiar with column repair work, you'll have to have it done at a good dealer or theft repair center. The procedures to replace these parts is quite extensive. Requires a steering wheel puller, lock plate remover/installer tool, and a tilt housing pin puller, and a lot of patience, especially during re-installation.
