Hows it going? Im about to install a good used 1989 GTA TPI harness real soon which I'm not gonna lie has its minor flaws that I've just about repaired completely. The final repair I have to make is to replace what appears to be o2 sensor connector. On the harness, its located by the IAC Valve, TPS, and CTS? connectors. Here are a couple of pics that show what I'm talkng about:

that sorta looks like what broke on me today under the right side of the engine all most up at the spark plug in the sensor that screws into the block i think it was brown, almost at the manifold heat shield in the back right passenger side corner under the bottom, when you find out what it is please let me know ive got to buy a new connector the wire is still good but the heat from the exhaust made the connector brittle.

 

I am not 100% sure but my best guess is the knock sensor wire.

 

Yeah I'll post once I find out what it is. I thought that it might of been the o2 sensor connector since its a pretty long wire and it is positioned real close to the exhaust pipe.

Yeah thats another possibility since its close to the block as well . I'll have to do a bit more research to find out what it is. I'll let you guys know.

Kinda looks like a knock sensor wire to me.

 

I compared this connector to the ones displayed on tpiparts.net and it actually does look like the knock sensor connector. The o2 connector has one purple wire where as the knock sensor only has one black wire. Knock sensor it is! Thanks very much for the info guys I appreciate it.

Repair complete. I picked up a knock sensor connector at the junk yard today off of an '88 fuel injected chevy truck. It was pretty much "plug and play" and I didn't even have to cut or splice anything. I appreciate the help guys. Thanks alot.
