Window Motor comes short going up about an inch
Window Motor comes short going up about an inch
Hi,
I recently replaced my drivers side window motor because it went up very slow. So I replaced the motor, and I put white lithium greece to lube the tracks. However, now when I put the window up it always stops at about 1/2 inch - inch short of the top of the door, and I need to pull it up the rest of the way to get it all the way up. Tomorrow I'm going to dry off the lubrication on the tracks, and use WD40 to clean the tracks up. Does anyone have any clue why or how I could fix this issue? The motor itself goes down quickly, but seems to go up half the speed the passanger side window does.
Thanks

Check the alignment of the front window guide with the rubber/plastic triangle at top. Try loosening the two boxing gloves at the top of the sheet metal opening that push the glass to the outside. Assume you have the trim panel off.
Too bad, I have a passenger regulator in my scrap pile.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply had finals though so didn't try untill today. I did that and it went up! However, it only does it when the door is open, when the door is closed it will not go up all the way because it starts touching the weatherstripping, its like its not giving the motor enough power to push it up tight. Any ideas from there?

When the car is running you should measure over 14 volts at your battery. Then measure at the connector that plugs into the motor. It should be over 12 volts. If not, its a wiring problem.
When you installed the motor it may be too close to the sector gear and creating a bind. Obviously gravity is helping it go down fast, and slowing it going up. Did you undo the whole regulator mechanism so that it might be out of alignment? Are your door hinges wasted and creating a misalignment of the whole door (top tipped in)?
