HEY I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY 1991 CAMARO RS...
MY CAR GOT STOLEN AND THEY BROKE THE WHOLE STEERING COLUM.
IM THINKING OF GOING TO PULL-A-PART (JUNK YARD) AND GETTING A NEW ONE OFF A CAR THERE.
BUT I DONT KNOW HOW THE WHOLE CHIP THING WOULD ALL WORK OUT??

MY IGNITION CHIP IS BY-PASSED SO I CAN START IT WITH NO KEY.
WHEN I REPLACE THE COLUM FROM ANOTHER CAR WOULD IT WORK. OR WOULD I HAVE TO BY-PASS THAT TOO???
OR WOULD I NEED TO TAKE THE COMPUTER FROM THAT CAR TOO??

IM LOST PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!

 

If you replace the column, just setup your ignition to match your by-passed system. How much of a modification did you do?

 

all i did was take the wires that went to the ignition (chip) and taped them together with the chip in the middle. so the chip is still there.
so what i was thinking of doing was get the nother steering collum and just rewire my old chip to the new colum??
hopefully that'll work>>???
what do you think?

 

You probably know this but, might want to source a 91 or 92, not too sure about the 90 model but, the prior year model wiring harness connectors and wiring will differ.
