New H4 Headlights shattered...
I did my H4 headlight upgrade this past weekend. The A1C universal upgrade harness was not the greatest product, and I added an extra ground and two fuse links next to the two relays. The difference in light brightness is phenominal. I used a set of Pilot housings for the high-beams, and a set of the 'City Lights' housings on the lows. I actually liked the BMW halo style with my black paint. However; after about a half hour, the glass lens on the lowbeams shattered within a few seconds of each other.
I got the city housings from another member and don't know the manufacturer. They looked to be as well built as the Pilot set, and I'm a bit nervous to replace them if something screwed up in the wiring process. Can anyone suggest what actually might be the issue? Both headlight housings were extremely hot to the touch within a couple minutes; I'm assumming that this is normal? (I am not very adept at wiring, but did have an auto electrician assist with the install) Nitro-Nicky

What was the wattage of the bulb? Too hot and the lens will break. Most of those housings are only rated for 55/60W bulbs.
I have a set of Pilot housings with the halo on my 92 and the only problem I currently have is a cracked lens on the driver side low beam probably from a rock strike.

Re: New H4 Headlights shattered...
I used the standard 55/60w H4 bulbs, which is one of the reasons I was surprised that they both shattered within a few seconds of each other. I was thinking of looking for a set of the Pilot 'city' housings, but I'd hate to pay the bucks and then have a breaking lens issue again.....
I suppose I should try and find a housing at the Pick N' Pull to see if I get heat related breakage again. Nitro
