fuel gauge never worked right ever since I got the car.I pulled the sender out today to see how much gas was in the tank,its was about 1/4 tank and the gauge read 3/4.would the sender be bad or someone took the gauge pin off and put it on wrong?
its a 90 formula 5.0 5 speed

 

I take it your new to 3rd gens? Their factory gas "gauge is anything but accurate, other than at Full & Empty.

I pay more attention to the Odometer. I get 150 miles for the first 1/4 tank, 50 miles for the last 3/4 (on the gauge).

 

I'v hadd plenty of them,never any problems like this one,thinking about trading it in for a stang but theres something about chevy's

 

Yea same here just clock the mileage....mines moves around when the car comes to a complete stop or when i take off. Dont trust it and put gas everything 200 miles or so.

 

I would if the speedo worked,lol

 

Just replacing all the gauges seems like it would be the best place for you to start... that's cheap, and a quick project.

 

Allot of times it's the sending unit in the tank that goes bad. I'd try that first.That should fix the issue for you.
