power windows

my power windows worked sometimes but now the dont work at all.. I was told it was the switch, but if it isnt the switches what other problem could it be?? did anybody ever experience this problem in there 1983 trans-am..

Pull the switches off the connectors. Grab a test light or voltmeter and test for power on the pink wire. If you don't have power, check the ACC circuit breaker.

If you do have power, I'd measure the resistance of the window motors on the connector. Set the DMM to resistance (if no autoranging, set it to 10 or 20 ohms or so) and put the test leads on the dark blue wire and the brown wire (or light blue and tan for the passenger side motor). You should see very small resistance (can't remember exactly, probably around 1 ohm or maybe less). If no resistance, the motors or the wiring is bad.
