Correct factory ground locations?!
Correct factory ground locations?!
I no longer have my factory manual anymore so I need your guys help!
I want to redo all of my factory grounds. I was going to buy from here http://www.dxengineering.com/products.asp?ID=175 but I need to know what length and size eyelets to buy.
Can someome please post exactly where to where each of the factory ground straps go so I can go make measurements using my car?
I think some of my grounds are missing or damaged. I'm having voltage issues with my AC fan on, when I hit the brakes, use both power windows, or have my lights on at night etc. My current alternator is new GM and honestly the last 3 alternators I've had over the last 10 years have all had this problem and it's getting bad in recent years so I think it's the grounds in the car.
Thanks!

Re: Correct factory ground locations?!
there should be one strap going from the passenger head to to body in the back of the motor and I believe one going from the battery to the ground within a couple inches. I have seen one going from the battery to the fuel pump block off plate, but since I was not the original owner on any of my 3rd gens, not sure exactly what was stock vs aftermarket.
make sure all the points of contact are not corroded or rusted; that will make a big difference with conductivity. If you're redoing the job, go in with 4ga for the runs; it may be a bit overkill for a stock setup, but you'll know that its no longer the weak point of your electrical system.
