Hatch Release Q
Hi guys,
Well I've finally been able to spend some time with my maro and I've found one thing that's got me stumped. The hatch pull-down motor still works(score!!), but there's something wrong with the hatch release. When I hit the switch inside the hatch will pop up but as soon as it does the pull-down motor pulls it down. Is there a timer or a switch or something that is supposed to stop this. I don't remember my step-dads RS ever doing this but then again I was 8.
Thanks in advance
Alex

Re: Hatch Release Q
Are you not getting back there fast enough to grab and lift the hatch? On my 88 the struts are worn out, if I don't catch it fast enough it will pull it back down right away.
There isn't a timer (that I know of), just a presure switch. When the switch is tripped, it tells the motor to close (pull down).
What does it do when you pop it with the key and open the hatch all the way up? Try cycling it without the hatch. The presure switch is the one closest to the back of the car, not the latch that locks the hatch.

Ah ok, I think it's my struts. They hold the hatch up but they're weak. Makes sense, guess the hatch is falling back down on the motor. Thanks for the info.
