Axle/Gears: Normal
speeometer starts to work after 10 or 20 miles
Hey guys
my speedometer did not work before, use to flutter a little when driven for long times, I did not accumulate mileage for over a 1 1/2 years. did some VSS reserch on this site and came to the conclusion that the culprit was the VSS on the tranny. I removed the VSS and WHALA! the burgundy gear insde was grounded smooth, easy enough. I purchased 37 teeth gear for $11, swapped gears put back VSS filled up with 2 LUCAS trans slip fix and a gallon and half of walmart trans fluid. it's all good right now. I warmed up car for 20 minutes, did some easy shifting on a flat road(to get fluid to all nooks and crannies of tranny) drove off down 295. the speedo was fluttering but at 40 to 80mph, still good. after 45 minutes, 2100 rpm, the speedo focused on 74mph. Yeah Baby! So I got my speedo working. Not!
when I drove back home on local roads, speedo started boucin up and down below 30mph. thats odd. drove car 2 days later and now speedo does not work till after 20 miles and several bumps later. I have not removed the VSS to see gear status, I was thinking that Buffer box or computer should be replaced to get speddo to work.
What do you guys think?

The Need 4 Speed - O - Meter
You can monitor the output of the VSS with an oscilloscope to make sure it’s putting out a steady signal.
An audio amplifier can be used if you don’t have a scope.

Connect the amp’s input to the output of the VSS as you would a CD player.
Ground to ground, the signal wire to the inner wire of the audio amplifier wire.
When driving, or simulating VIA having the car jacked up, you will hear a hum which increases in pitch when the wheels are turning faster, if the VSS is good.
Use a spare old beat-up amplifier, you wouldn’t want to damage (in case something goes wrong) a top of the line amp.
