+12 V Fuel Pump Q

So I am trying to wire up my fuel pump relay and need to run the +12 volt lead to the pigtail that is coming off of the body near the gas tank under the car. The connector is a three prong connector, and I am wondering which of the three prongs (when looking at it from underneath counting left to right) is the +12V lead. Any ideas? BTW its a 1985 Z28 TPI Camaro.

Re: +12 V Fuel Pump Q

What color wires do you have back there? The closest diagram I have on file is for an 87, and it shows a tan wire carrying 12V+ to the pump. However, depending on what you're doing, the circuit might not send 12V+ to that wire. The tan wire runs to the fuel pump relay which is activated by the ECM... If you aren't using the ECM you might have to rewire that relay. I'd check it with a multimeter, or at least a test light to see if it's powering up.

The other two wires shown at that connection are a pink wire which is the voltage for the gas gauge, and a black ground wire.

Re: +12 V Fuel Pump Q

Thanks for the info, i will have to get under there this afternoon and check, but that sounds about right. The tan wire is what I would be looking for. I have been re-wiring the car for my FAST ECM and I needed to re-use my fuel pump relay for the new ECM. Re-wiring it to work with the FAST unit has proven to be "fun". I appreciate the quick reply
