Yes, you'll have problems, like no timing advance. If you're going non-computer, you need a vacuum advance distributor.

the distributor has a vacum advance and also has the 4 wire plug coming off it that is attatched to the module

Re: cc hei distributor
Well, if it has a vacuum advance diaphragm, then it's not a CC distributor and should work fine. It sounds like it's the older style HEI. While not computer controlled, it is still electronic, which is what the ignition module and wires are for. Instead of using breaker points, the ignition module determines when to fire the coil.

Re: cc hei distributor
Well, 2 of them will be coil power, one will be the tach wire, I'm not sure what the 4th would be. What colors are the wires? Can you post a pic of the distributor/wires?

Hmm, are you sure it's a vacuum advance distributor then? The CC one (non-vacuum) looks like this, and has a 4-pin plug.

Re: cc hei distributor
I searched around google some, since I haven't ever seen a 5-pin non-CC ignition module. The only info I could find says that the extra wire is for a knock sensor, which would retard the timing on knock. Any idea what the distributor came out of?

i do not know what it is out of but the vacum diaphram should take care of the timing advance so what would the 4 wires do other than knock sensor wich i am not hooking up

Re: cc hei distributor
The plug for your distributor needs to be adapted to fit you wiring harness for your ecu.
You find the plug on the harness that should go to a distributor, find out which wire is which, 1 would be for knock sensor, 1 or 2 would be for tps signal and Im not sure what the last one would be for.
Once you know which wire is which, cut the old plug off the harness and wire in the new plug. Its kind of hard to help if you dont know where the distributor is from.
Im not very good at wiring and electrical, this is just from my brief knowledge. Someone smart should chime in and help this guy

Re: cc hei distributor
there are CC EST HEi dizzies in 1982 trucks they do have vacuum advance
im tired of ppl claiming that no CC HEI had vacuum advance when in fact many were made and i hve one sitting here right now,
form 1982 K10 pickuyp with 305 and EST system and E4ME carb
look it up for yourself
some caprice wagons were EST with vac advance also...
1103465 is the distrib number
they also have weights too
and the 5 pin module for EST system
1103460 is the more common one and yes it has no vac advance,
but just because you havent ever senen a 465 hei doesnt mean they dont exist
whoever started this CC distributorrs never had vac advance crap is a moron.
