Did I fry something?????
89 Iroc 350 with bare wire on the back of the alternator (yeah, you know where this is going) anyway, I was removing the driver side valve cover and ZZZZZZAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPP. I touched the bare wire connected to the alternator and yes the battery was still hooked up.........it stayed in contact with it for a good 20 seconds as I'm pounding on it to get it disconnected, it was like welding it to the alternator bolt with the hot wire on it.
I finally got the valve cover detached from the hot wire and proceeded. I then put the valve cover back on and the car turned over fine 1 time, it didn't start but it did turn over. Now, any subsequent attempts at starting the car results in a very, very dragging starter. Like r.....rrr........rrrrr........rrrrr.........rrrrrrr..........rrrrrrrrr and it never does fully turn over. I even hooked up a second battery and it still won't turn over like it had been. It drags real bad almost like the timing is way off.
Did I fry the starter or something else possibly??????

Re: Did I fry something?????
Check all your fuses first. Replace any blown ones.
That has nothing to do with the slow starting. I don't think you messed up your starter, either. It may be the starter solenoid/switch, though.
Hmmm. Hmmm. I've never done what you did before, so I don't know what all could burn up when that happens. I'd start with the starter switch.
