does hypertech chip remove speed limiter on a 1992 camaro z28 350 automatic. do we have speed limiters? What is top speed? someone tried to tell me 120mph.

Many of the third generation f-bodies to come from GM were equipped with a vehicle speed limiter which prevented attaining the true top speed that the vehicles were capable of. Their reasoning for a speed limiter included such factors as tires that were not rated for higher speeds, keeping insurance rates down, and just for flat out safety. However, most of the Camaros and Firebirds that were speed limited were the low output versions using the 305 TBI engine. For Z28 and other TPI f-body owners, this is good news because they do not have the "governer" to contend with. However, other owners such as myself are often irritated by the inability to attain the top speed that our vehicles could otherwise perform.

 

i put a switch in the vss to overide mine! One of my fav mods i have a video on my phone before i went to smaller tire, small ig upgrades, and air filter! if someone pm s me their number ill send into them. Ill post it someday

 

ok what is the fastest you have ever had your fbody? i can't say more then 90 lol.

 

well i raced a friend of mine in a gti golf with 3k in mods before i totaled her and he said he was doing around 135 and i was still pulling from him. My speedo goes to 115 and i have had it pegged past that on th dash. If you send me a PM with your phone number i can text you a old video
