Changed oil gauge pressure sender question.

I changed the oil pressure sending unit from the stock dummy light one to the gauge style. I then swapped the gauge cluster from the dummy light to the gauge style and the gauge worked. My question is this, I have to finish assembling the gauge style cluster so I just threw the dummy light one back in for a couple days and I've now got an oil light on. Just wondering if this is just because I switched from the switch type to the gauge type or if somethings wrong? I thought the old dummy light type just was on or off and that's why I thought the new style might have thown the light due to the fact that there is power at all times being that it's for the gauge.

Light Oil

The light only indicator is not compatible with the gage sender therefore you will get incorrect indications like the one you’re seeing.
